This ad is showing depth by overlapping and size. Clearly the girl in the front (closest to us) is the largest and then they get smaller on the page as they go back into space. This give the appearance that closest girl is in front of the others behind her. The smaller images also are place higher on the page which also gives us the sense of depth.

Good example of spatial relationships. Just looking at the smaller example of your original blog, I was going to say that the images behind the first seemed to have less shadowing contrast. Then, after enlarging the print, actually noticed that the designer has created "drama" (gone against the basic rules) by having all the images bleed through all the other images. It just wasn't shadowing.

I love the combination of style of depth and flowing look of this advertisement.

Everything is very peaceful and stable in the design.
